I just wish is was more robustly made so that you could heat it with direct flame. With indirect flame, it takes a half an hour to go through the cycle. Also the first one I received had a leaky seal and the water would not rise dependably. The replacement Amazon sent has worked fine. ...more

There is not a single person that comes in my kitchen without asking about the pot. Some reviews may complain about the added hands-on involvement with set up and clean up. Ignore them, these are the same people that complain about loading and unloading the dishwasher. Some small parts from those Bodum pots got lost or mangled. So I purchased one of these Northwest Glass Yama pots instead of paying the relatively large price to replace the small Bodum parts. Now I have two of these Northwest pots and I am delighted with them. The coffee tastes the same from either the Bodum or the Northwest. The Northwest is, however, slightly heavier and less fragile than the Bodum. ...more

You might have to play with the amount of coffee you use to get the right flavor you like, but it's worth it. When I received mine, it was missing the cloth filter, the wire heat diffuser and the spring do-hickey for the top part. I called Northwest Glass, and the very nice lady I spoke to took care of the problem and sent me what was missing. Great service directly from the dealer. ...more

I saw a vacuum coffee pot on a Modern Marvels episode, and decided to give it a try. Making coffee with a vacuum pot IS going to be a little more active-participation than using a drip machine, but it is pretty simple. Mostly you just need to keep an eye on it near the end of the boil cycle, so it doesn't boil dry and crack the bottom pot. The electric one pooped out when my non inclined room mate just threw the electric carafe into the sink to clean it not taking the time to become familiar with it. I bought my first stovetop santos and same roommate broke the carafe when she thought it was ok for the carafe to remain on full heat when no water was in it.
